Layer short

Layer short refers to a short circuit between the same phase or a short circuit between phases. When an interlayer short circuit occurs, the current in the winding will become smaller due to the short circuit, and the current will increase, which can easily cause excessive copper loss in the motor and burn the motor. The cause of the short circuit may be the failure of the enameled wire insulation layer. For example, during the motor manufacturing process, the enameled wire may be cracked or have tiny holes when the enameled wire is inserted into the wire, or the motor may not operate in an appropriate environment, such as ultra-high temperature or waterproofing. In an environment where the equipment is not perfect enough, it may accelerate the failure of the insulation layer and lead to short circuit between layers.

Impulse Winding Tester

The motors produced by ATF will be tested by an Impulse winding tester before final shipment to confirm the interlayer insulation of each motor. The layer test is after the same high-voltage pulse is injected into the standard motor coil and the tested motor coil. , compare the two transient waveforms. The transient waveform is the voltage attenuation oscillation waveform that occurs in the coil. The inductance of the winding, the quality factor Q value, the number of winding turns difference, inter-turn short circuit, corona discharge, etc. can be judged by the waveform. Ensure the stability of each motor coil. In addition, this method is a non-destructive testing method. After the testing is completed, it will not cause damage to the products to be shipped.
